Minebea Intec takes special measures to support producers in maintaining the supply chain

The outbreak of the coronavirus is restricting our world. One of the many effects of the pandemic is a global supply shortage due to increased demand for goods, limited production capacity and local import and export restrictions. Like any other company, manufacturers of food, beverages or pharmaceuticals must face the COVID 19 risk. At the same time they play an important role in supplying the population with essential goods. Minebea Intec, the global manufacturer of industrial weighing and inspection technologies, is aware of the urgency of an uninterrupted supply chain and offers its customers special support as a countermeasure.

In times of crisis, supplying the population with essential goods is a highly sensitive issue. This is shown, among other things, by the worldwide reporting on hamster purchases in recent weeks. Maintaining supply chains is therefore all the more important in this period. According to Minebea Intec, this includes, above all, secure processes in the mass production of vital goods: "Many of our customers are from the who's who of the major global manufacturers. At the same time, we supply small and medium-sized companies that produce vital goods for the daily needs of end consumers. If production comes to a standstill here, the basic supply is quickly endangered. We at Minebea Intec see our task at this moment in time primarily as providing producers with solutions that make their production processes safe," explains Willy-Sebastian Metzger, Director of Marketing, Strategy and Business Development at Minebea Intec. "A good example is our service tool miRemote, which can help companies with access restrictions for visitors. The tool uses augmented reality and works intuitively via smartphone or tablet. It thus enables service without the risk of infection: users and technicians work as if they were sitting next to each other. In this way, the Minebea Intec service technician can provide first aid, analyze the situation and order the spare part directly, saving time". But miRemote is only one of many products and solutions with which the company is keeping its customers' backs free in these challenging times.

The mission of Minebea Intec: Immunisation of production processes
The products and solutions of Minebea Intec prove themselves all over the world in safe and efficient production processes. The company offers an agile product portfolio consisting of high-resolution platform scales, load cells, hopper and silo scales, checkweighers, metal detectors, X-ray inspection systems and intuitive software solutions. "In principle, all goods are weighed and inspected at some point during production. Our first-class weighing and inspection technologies ensure precise measurement results along the production line for this purpose", explains Frank Wieland, CSO at Minebea Intec. "In order to make these processes even safer now, we now guarantee our customers comprehensive service and unconditional availability of spare parts under all circumstances". Over the next few weeks, the company will also offer its customers long-term access to miRemote so that they can use the tool at any time: in the event of access restrictions for external parties, when rapid on-site support is required or to speed up clarification and spare parts ordering.
Customers can count on Minebea Intec
Minebea Intec also pays great attention to existing and future projects. "Fortunately, we are able to complete all current projects without delay," explains Frank Wieland. "We are ready and equipped for new projects or conditions changed by the current situation. In addition, we have decided to extend our support during the Corona crisis with special prices and conditions". And miRemote helps here too: By using Augmented Reality, project details can be discussed online".
In view of the many trade fairs that had to be cancelled due to the COVID 19 risk, the company, which is headquartered in Hamburg, is currently setting another helpful highlight: "We are expanding our showrooms, which are spread all over the world, into virtual trade fair stands. In this way, customers can explicitly arrange personal appointments with sales and application specialists and have the devices demonstrated virtually, live and securely, independently of Coronakrise developments. And there will be even more from our side to support our customers in this crisis," says Frank Wieland.
