OPAL PRINT’S NEW BROCHURES USE CARBON BALANCED RIVES SENSATION FROM ANTALIS

Bath-based carbon balanced printer, Opal Print, has printed its new suite of promotional brochures on Rives Sensation Matt Tradition Bright White, 270gsm. From the paper manufacture to the print production and delivery, all carbon emissions have been offset to make the collateral completely carbon neutral.

Opal Print has been certified as a Carbon Balanced Publication Printer since 2018, while Antalis announced in February this year that it was offsetting its entire Creative Papers range, right to the customer’s door. This portfolio, which alongside Rives, includes Olin, Conqueror, Pop’Set and Keaykolour is manufactured locally in Scotland.
The announcement followed the unveiling in January of Antalis’ extended universal carbon offsetting initiative, which enables customers to carbon offset any paper, packaging or visual communications products from the entire Antalis range. The actions of both businesses are helping to fund the creation and preservation of forests that provide permanent protection for habitats and wildlife here in the UK and around the world.
Showcasing the beauty of print, each of Opal Print’s eight new gatefold brochures – printed on a Heidelberg B2 press using LED UV inks and finished with a neutral aqueous coating – is targeted at a different customer sector. Rives is a favourite of Keith Lunt, Managing Director of Opal Print: “Any job I have printed on Rives has been stunning, and is always commented upon when seen and felt. The idea of the leaflet was to show off striking print and the difference using quality paper can add to the experience. Even before opening the leaflet, the tactile feel exudes quality.”
On the reverse of each brochure are details of how the publication has been carbon balanced: the 102kgs of carbon emissions produced have been offset and has preserved 71 square metres of threatened habitat.
Katie Farr, Marketing & Communications Manager at Antalis, commented: “The new brochures by Opal Print are a great example of how paper choice can contribute to the effectiveness of a communication tool. Through paper selection, Opal Print has not only been able to represent the quality of their brand and service but also communicate their strong environmental credentials.”
