InLine-Foiling decoration from Leonhard Kurz approved according to RecyClass

Kurz' InLine-Foiling decoration technology is compatible with the recycling stream of HDPE containers, independent tests confirm. The analysis was carried out by the Institute of Plastics Technology and Recycling (IKTR) laboratory in accordance with the RecyClass Recyclability Evaluation Protocol.

The InLine Foiling decoration, which enables silver and gold effects, is applied to HDPE tubes and bottles. The process consists of transferring the decorative layer onto the packaging using a few microns of multiple layers, including topcoats, metallisation and a UV-curable adhesive.
The laboratory analysis showed no negative effects on the recycling process * under the defined conditions. These conditions include, among others, that the decoration does not exceed 30 percent of the total surface coverage and that no additional printing technology is used.
The tested InLine-Foiling decoration process produces recyclates that can be used in the production of high-quality injection moulding applications with a concentration of up to 25 percent.
The results of the analyses reveal another technology that takes recyclable design into account as one of the core features in the production of plastic packaging. This goal is a basic prerequisite for the expansion of the circular economy in plastics in Europe.
