Novelis, the leading manufacturer of flat aluminum products and the world's largest aluminum recycler, has extended its use of Dassault Systèmes' DELMIA Quintiq applications to improve production planning and scheduling at two aluminum plants in the United States and Brazil. The company has been working with Dassault Systèmes since 2003.
In the United States, Novelis will implement DELMIA Quintiq applications to plan and schedule metal production at its new plant in Guthrie, Kentucky, which will begin producing aluminium for automotive applications in 2020. In Brazil, it will use DELMIA Quintiq applications to optimize scheduling at its plant in Pinda, its largest center in South America, where it produces aluminum foil for beverage cans and for the consumer, industrial and packaging markets.
As the energy and materials industry faces increased demand and higher environmental sustainability requirements, a fully integrated digital approach can help metal manufacturers mitigate these challenges by improving lead times, performance and administrative efficiency, while reducing inventory levels and maximizing the use of resources.
Dassault Systèmes' DELMIA Quintiq applications, powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, are custom designed to address the complexity of the aluminum rolling process. In a unique digital environment, aluminum manufacturers can model, plan and optimize their business operations from start to finish and evolve their approach from cost reduction to strengthening competitive advantage, thus creating opportunities for future production growth.
