● The innovative UK aviation industry company is using the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform to manage the complex development of its third generation prototype
● 'Reinvent the sky' industrial solution experience will improve collaboration between design, engineering, testing and manufacturing teams
● 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform allows Vertical Aerospace to maintain business continuity while teams work remotely
Dassault Sytémes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) has announced that UK-based aviation industry innovator Vertical Aerospace, which aims to revolutionise how people fly by making air travel a personal, on-demand, carbon-free journey, is using the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform to develop its third all-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
Vertical Aerospace will use the industrial solution experience 'Reinvent the Sky', based on the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform, to manage the complex development of the eVTOL spacecraft prototype, thanks to its current team of 100 engineers and technical experts - a rapidly growing number - even when working remotely. The 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform unifies the design, engineering, testing and manufacturing disciplines of the company in a digital collaborative environment, to meet needs ranging from requirements to final design and quality.
"At Vertical Aerospace we are fortunate to have moved to the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform before we started working remotely," said Owen Thompson Cheel, IPT (Integrated Product Team) leader for Vertical Aerospace's Flight System, "The team has everything it needs to work from home and by using the cloud platform, we have been able to continue working virtually without any performance differences. It is an excellent case for working in the cloud and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform has allowed us to remain agile and secure without losing our capacity and effectively maintaining business continuity".
In 2019, Vertical Aerospace released the flight images of its latest eVTOL spacecraft. The Seraph can carry up to 250 kilograms - the equivalent of three passengers - and fly at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour (50 mph). The complexity of the third generation eVTOL required advanced functionality for power systems, change management, regulation and compliance, as well as greater team collaboration. Following a competitive evaluation, Vertical Aerospace selected the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform to support its vision of reducing air travel carbon emissions with proven technology in the aviation, energy and automotive industries.
"Disruptive innovators like Vertical Aerospace are using the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform to advance their compelling vision of achieving sustainable mobility and inventing new industries," said David Ziegler, Vice President, Aerospace and Defense Industry, Dassault Systèmes. "Companies today must completely rethink the way they work and the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud platform offers the broadest portfolio of applications for product design and engineering from anywhere, with a high level of performance and secure and efficient access to information.
