US Governor at Arburg

• Top performance: Governor Ned Lamont impressed by Lossburg machine manufacturer

• Top issues: Training and the economy
• Top position: US largest foreign market for Arburg

Arburg welcomed a high-profile visitor from the US on 17 July 2024: Ned Lamont, Governor of Connecticut (CT), made his way to the Black Forest to get to know the Lossburg-based machine manufacturer. A lunch talk with Managing Directors Guido Frohnhaus and Gerhard Böhm and Advisory Board Chairman Dr Armin Schmiedeberg provided an excellent opportunity for in-depth discussions on the key topics of training and the economy.
As part of a trip to Germany, US Governor Ned Lamont visited selected companies, including Arburg in Lossburg. He was accompanied by Daniel O'Keefe, Commissioner Department of Economic and Community Development and Chief Innovation Officer State of CT, John Bourdeaux, President & CEO Advance CT, and Ted Fisher, Senior Director Business Development Advance CT.
Arburg apprenticeship system meets with great interest
The high-profile delegation was welcomed by Dr Christoph Schumacher, Vice President Global Marketing at Arburg, who also gave a brief introduction to the company and its product portfolio. Guido Frohnhaus offered a fascinating look behind the scenes during the company tour. A highlight for the Governor was his visit to the Vocational Training Center and the presentation of the multi-award-winning and certified Arburg apprenticeship system by Michael Vieth, Director of HR Development & Apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship – both generally in Germany and specifically at Arburg – was also discussed in depth during the lunch talk with Guido Frohnhaus, Gerhard Böhm and Dr Armin Schmiedeberg. Other topics included the global economic situation and the economic potential that the state of Connecticut (CT) offers companies based there. This includes the US subsidiary of Arburg, whose headquarters are located in Rocky Hill, CT. Of course, the US presidential election campaign was also a topic of conversation.
High importance of the US and North America underscored
The US was and is the largest market outside Germany for the Lossburg-based family business. With over 14,000 Allrounder injection moulding machines installed, the company occupies an important position in this market. The US subsidiary was founded back in 1990. Today, Arburg Inc. is present at three locations in the US. For many years, the headquarters in Rocky Hill have also housed an Arburg Technology Factory, where Allrounders are equipped to customer specifications and bespoke turnkey systems are realised in cooperation with local partners and equipment suppliers.
