Display Week 2014 Technical Symposium Advance Program Now Available

The Society for Information Display (SID), the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of electronic display technology, announced that its technical symposium advance program for Display Week 2014 is now available.  Display Week will be held June 1-6, 2014 at the San Diego Convention Center, with the technical symposium running from Tues., June 2 through Fri., June 6.

No other display event in the world brings together today's leading technologists from industry and academia to discuss all aspects of research, engineering, application, evaluation and utilization of display technologies.

Attendees this year will have access to a comprehensive technical program that consists of 60 technical sessions and an additional 191 papers to be presented at the afternoon poster session on Thurs., June 5.  This year's special tracks will cover five of today's hottest topics:

OLED TV:  This special topic will cover OLED displays specialized for TV applications.  This year's coverage of OLED TV technologies includes advanced device structures, backplane technologies, manufacturing processes, deposition techniques, mask fabrication, encapsulation, driving methods and next-generation applications.

Wearable Displays:  Benefiting from advanced RF technology, advanced microprocessor technology and advanced display technology, the push for super mobile applications is becoming a reality.  Many mainstream companies and start-ups are all developing products to further simplify our lifestyles and enhance our capabilities.  Wearable displays represent one of the fastest growing areas in both consumer products and technological development.  This topic will cover the emerging development of wearable display products, applications and technologies.

Lighting:  No one can doubt that solid-state lighting has begun to fulfill its promise of saving energy and providing design flexibility.  This year's session will feature how the latest advancements in the LED and OLED industries open up new opportunities to increase the perception of reality.

The Future of Electronic Backplanes—LTPS vs. Oxide TFT:  Advancements and manufacturing issues related to oxide semiconductors and thin-film transistors will be covered, along with new opportunities for increased device performance, greater TFT integration at the systems level, and innovative applications and products.

3D:  Display technologies for enabling depth perception in viewers, applications for 3D displays, 3D content generation, measurement and characterization of 3D systems, and their human factors.  This year, a stereoscopic projection system will be available in the 3D sessions to enable presenters to show 3D footage to complement their talks.

Aside from these cutting-edge topics, the technical program will feature the latest developments in touch and interactive displays, liquid crystal, OLED, e-paper, projection displays, flexible displays, advanced display manufacturing such as roll/roll processing, human factors and a variety of other topics in display technology.  Technologies for advanced mobile displays will be a particular area of focus.
