Mediclinic Middle East Announces Construction of New Hospital in Dubai

New hospital to be built on Umm Suqeim Road between Mall of the Emirates and Arabian Ranches

Mediclinic Middle East today announces plans to construct a new general hospital, similar in scope to its existing Mediclinic City Hospital, in a strategic location on Umm Suqeim Road between the junctions of Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Once finished at the end of 2018, Mediclinic Parkview Hospital will provide international standard healthcare services to the southern area of Dubai which is currently under-serviced by a facility of this quality.

At up to 500,000 square feet in size, eventually employing more than 800 staff, an initial capacity of 150+ beds and six operating theatres, the hospital will offer in-and outpatient services across a full range of disciplines (with the exception of oncology which will be housed at the new wing of Mediclinic City Hospital due for completion in mid-2016).

Since entering the UAE in 2008, Mediclinic Middle East has constantly sought opportunities to expand its business in line with the rate of growth of the country's healthcare sector, which has been fuelled by an increasing population, greater penetration of insurance and a prevalence of lifestyle diseases. In Dubai in particular, new residential developments have increased the need for medical services outside established areas. David Hadley, CEO Mediclinic Middle East said: "This new hospital will bring the same level of service and treatment that our patients have come to expect from Mediclinic's existing hospitals in Dubai Healthcare City and Al Garhoud, but in a far more convenient location for those living in 'New Dubai'. At an approximate cost of AED700 million, this project represents Mediclinic Middle East's most substantial investment in the UAE healthcare market to date, and is testament to our confidence in the country's economy and continued growth."

Mediclinic Middle East is part of Mediclinic International, one of the ten largest private hospital groups in the world with 52 hospitals in Southern Africa, 16 in Switzerland and 12 healthcare facilities in the UAE.
