Defining the Next Decade of Inkjet Innovation with HP PageWide

2024 is a landmark year for inkjet technology marking the 40th anniversary since its invention. It’s a journey HP has been on since the very beginning as we have continuously invested over the last four decades to bring innovation in inkjet technology. Along the way we’ve become experts in our customers and the trends shaping the print industry, enabling us to develop new technologies which deliver on their needs and anticipate how they’ll evolve.

That’s why today we know offset quality, productivity and versatility are top of mind for printers, and so we’re bringing new capabilities for the HP PageWide portfolio with the introduction of the HP PageWide Plus Package and expanded application versatility for the HP PageWide Advantage 2200.
With the HP PageWide Plus Package printers will have access to:
Smart Workcell Controller: By the summer of this year Smart Workcell Controller will be generally available delivering intelligent and automated job analysis that reduces labor costs, turn-around time and optimizes paper usage, promising productivity improvements of up to a factor of 15x1.
Performance Economy Color (EC) Mode: Aptly suited to transaction, enveloped mail, and publishing jobs EC mode delivers the print quality customers require for faster turnaround with less color ink and full density black, and enables time-critical color jobs to be printed at the highest press speed of up to 800 fpm (244 mpm)2, a 60% increase in productivity.
On-Press Color Profiling: With this new addition we’ve taken the time and labor-intensive task of color profiling and transformed it into less than 10 minutes, a tenth of what it normally takes3 on-press job through automation, radically reducing labor interventions and increasing productivity.
The HP PageWide Plus Package is backward compatible and free for all new and existing HP PageWide Advantage 2200 customers, and to most of the HP PageWide installed base.
We’re also seeing firsthand how the commercial printing sector is undergoing significant transformation, putting new pressures on printers who must now handle print runs of varying sizes and diversify their offerings to remain competitive in a growingly saturated market. To adapt to these challenges, we’re expanding the application versatility for the HP PageWide Advantage 2200 with the additions of:
Heavier Media Expansion: Offering the highest media weight support in the 22” (560 mm) web inkjet category4, printers can now move more jobs from offset or sheetfed inkjet to digital inkjet to enhance productivity while sustaining high quality and capture even more high value jobs with the ability to print on 320 gsm/18pts5.
Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) solution: This new print system with MICR option brings together enhanced security features in the digital front end along with the new Performance EC mode to offer production mail customers a full solution focused on efficiency, productivity, and security for time and data sensitive applications.
Today we’re proud to say that we’ve reached a significant milestone with nearly 1 Trillion pages printed by HP PageWide customers in direct mail, transaction, publishing, commercial printing, and packaging6. It’s testament to the innovation behind our PageWide Web Presses leveraging our proprietary thermal inkjet technology which delivers offset class quality and productivity with the benefits of digital printing. With these new enhancements we’re laying the ground for what the next decade of inkjet innovation will look like, with a focus on integrating end-to-end intelligent automation.
