EcoVadis gold status for Epson - for the third time in a row

This puts the company among the top 2 percent in the industry

For the third year in a row, Epson has been awarded EcoVadis Gold status for corporate responsibility, which means that the company has achieved a five percent increase over the previous year.

For the third year in a row, Epson has been awarded EcoVadis Gold status for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This best possible international CSR standard certifies that the company operates at the highest level in the areas of sustainable procurement as well as in the areas of labour and human rights and ethics.

EcoVadis is an independent platform that uses standards to assess the corporate policy and CSR activities of companies, including measures in the areas of the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis' evaluation methods cover more than 198 purchasing categories, 155 countries and 21 CSR indicators. Over 55,000 companies from 190 industries use EcoVadis.

With its current classification, Epson is one of the top two percent of companies1 worldwide in terms of sustainable management.

Compared to the previous year, the overall result is five percent higher. This reflects further improvements in the area of "labour and human rights" and means that the company is among the top two percent of companies worldwide in terms of CSR standards in its industry2.

Minoru Usui, President of Epson, explains: "Everything we do at Epson is based on Corporate Social Responsibility, and the excellent result in the area of CSR is at least as important and valuable for our business as financial success.

Epson wants to be a company that the modern world cannot be imagined without. Therefore, we must create unique and long-term value by producing excellent products. We want to exceed our customers' expectations, dedicate ourselves to social needs and, in particular, preserve our environment. As a company, we have aligned our actions with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations and are highly committed to our efforts to create a better and more sustainable future.

Henning Ohlsson, CSR Director Epson Europe, adds: "This year we have made particularly great progress in the area of labour and human rights and we are very pleased that this is being rewarded with a higher overall result at EcoVadis. But there is always room for improvement and it is our incentive to continue to analyse every aspect of our business to ensure that we meet the highest standards.

EcoVadis' gold rating is an important and valuable indicator of our success. Both public and private sector clients are increasingly demanding comprehensive and verifiable audits that demonstrate a company's sustainable commitment to labour, human rights and social issues, while maintaining the highest standards".

Further information on Epson's achievements in the area of CSR can be found in the Epson Integrated Report, which highlights Epson's global progress and the most important goals achieved in the areas of the environment, social responsibility and corporate governance.

Epson Europa's achievements in the area of CSR can be read in the current Epson Europa sustainability report "The Green Choice".
