Investment in Two Ventura MC Sewing Machines with the Tween Option
Diamond Print Services Ltd. in London will commission two Muller Martini Ventura MC book sewing machines with the tween option for the production of signatures with different sizes and positions, making it the first graphic arts company in Great Britain to invest in the new equipment.
Operations Director Nick Dingwall is convinced that "the tween option in thread sewing will open new markets for us".
As the largest trade bookbinder in Great Britain, Diamond Print Services, which was founded in 1990, focuses solely on print finishing as the partner of numerous printing plants and produces softcover and hardcover books with print runs of 50 to one million copies. The hallmarks of the family business are its great flexibility in meeting customer needs at short notice and top-quality, specialized books.
Revolution in Thread Sewing
In order to increase its production capacity as well as its flexibility and quality, Diamond Print Services is investing this spring in two new Ventura MC book sewing machines with the tween option to replace two InventaPlus machines. It means Diamond Print Services, which also uses a Diamant bookline and a Prima saddle stitcher from Muller Martini, will be the only bookbindery in Great Britain capable of also thread sewing smaller folded signatures in a book block. Muller Martini has revolutionized thread sewing and enabled countless new and exciting ideas for print products with the Ventura MC – the first book sewing machine that is capable of thread sewing products featuring signatures in different sizes and positions.
Operations Director Nick Dingwall is convinced that "the tween option in thread sewing will open new markets for us, since designers and printing companies are always on the lookout for unique niche products". In addition to the tween option, Dingwall is also impressed by the servo technology of the Ventura MC, which enables the motorization of all book-specific width settings, except for the gathering tray and book stacker. That reduces job changeover times and increases adjustment precision. "MC technology is the future for us bookbinders," stresses the Operations Director. "It enables us to stitch even heavy paper types and a wide range of sizes to the very highest quality standards."
