- Store in the cloud directly from compatible Canon cameras
- Share in social networks from image.canon
- Original data remains in the cloud for 30 days
- 10 GB of free storage for an unlimited time
Canon introduces image.canon, a free service for the direct transfer of images and videos to a wide range of devices and web services. Free storage in the cloud is automatically available directly from compatible Canon cameras*. The new service will be available to users from early April 2020. The new connectivity solution helps photographers of all levels to shoot, upload, store and share images effortlessly.
image.canon goes beyond storage and offers Canon users a simple service for managing photos and videos through to a professional workflow. image.canon stores users' images automatically or manually from a WLAN-enabled Canon camera* in a central hub. From there, images or movies can be forwarded directly to other end devices and web services such as Google Drive, Flickr or YouTube. Adobe** and Google*** compatibility is planned for June 2020.
WLAN-enabled Canon cameras from model year 2020* offer users automatic transfer directly to image.canon when they are connected to the Internet.
Free storage space
For fail-safe backup, users can simply connect their camera to image.canon and use the free cloud storage to store their data, including RAW photos and 4K video. This original data then remains in the cloud for 30 days. If the data is not moved to long-term storage within 30 days, the original data is automatically deleted. For this purpose, the user has 10 GB of storage available free of charge. Lower-resolution copies of the original files for social media are made of all images and stored in a personal library.
Simple and intuitive operation
By installing the special PC software for image.canon, users can quickly and easily download images and videos directly from the camera. The download can also be performed automatically if a corresponding Canon camera (from model year 2020*) is used. The content on image.canon can also be sorted and easily forwarded directly to preferred social media channels or e-mail contacts.
From the beginning of April, image.canon will enable the automatic transfer of images to the user accounts of services such as Google Drive. Starting in June 2020, image.canon will expand its partnership with Google to include back-up in original quality with Google photos via Google One. This package with additional storage capacity will be offered as part of a membership. A cooperation with Adobe Creative Cloud is also planned as part of a membership. In addition to automatic transfer of images and the ability to edit them in their original quality in partner services and applications, image.canon will make it easier for users to store and share their images.
The free service of image.canon is an optimal support around the image and offers modern possibilities for the management of photos and videos. Regular upgrades are planned, which will further expand the creative possibilities.
