Give your business that extra boost with digital signage

Digital signage is hip. Everywhere you look, you see hotels, restaurants and shops using this technology. Even on the street and in public buildings, you see large screens displaying dynamic messages. But what are the benefits to you, as a sign maker, of this form of communication? The answer is clear: it's extra income.

Expand your range with digital signage

Innovative sign shops find that they can generate extra income by offering digital signage in addition to their regular printing services. Yet some printers are still a bit hesitant to step into this market. They fear that the digital possibilities will cannibalize the printing market.

Michel Van Vliet, Product Marketing Manager at Roland DG explains: "I do understand how some sign makers fear that digital signage will take away their printing jobs. But this won't happen. Digital signage is dynamic and can be adapted very quickly, but it will never replace print. Instead, you should see the two as complementary. Display screens that are integrated into printing campaigns give an extra punch to advertising or interior projects.

Besides that, digital signage gives you a recurring income. You can sell digital signage with a maintenance or service plan where you provide the technical support."

Justin Ryan, author of the new book 'Digital Signage Power', advises sign makers to jump on the bandwagon: "If customers ask for digital signage and you dig in your heels and do not offer it, you will lose a potential customer to someone else."

Richard Romano, in his article 'The ABC of DDS', also says: "If a customer wants to install digital signage per se, he or she will do just that. If the shop does not offer this service as a supplement or addition to its printing work, then the customer will simply go to someone else who does offer it."
