CPI Colour wins at Print, Design and Marketing Awards 2014

Pictured are CPI Colour account director Tim Royle and Alexandra Cook, account director at Addison Group, receiving the award from sales and development manager, Chris Rushton, Digital Printer.CPI Colour has won in the Report and Accounts category of the Print, Design and Marketing Awards 2014.

The awards celebrate those in the print industry who lead the way with innovation and creativity. CPI Colour triumphed in a hotly contested R&A category against challenging competition.

Gary Mellish, CPI Colour Sales Director, said: "This award is testament to the expertise and skill of our team, whose passion and pursuit of excellence results in such outstanding work for our customers."

CPI Colour's winning entry was the Essentra Annual Report 2013, produced for Addison Group. The report and folder were printed using one of the company's fleet of Heidelberg Speedmaster presses on Explorer stock, then sewn and bound in house. A total of 2,500 copies were produced and inserted into folders which were die cut and made up by hand. Extensive pre production testing and planning was carried out by CPI Colour in advance of manufacture.

Steve Tasker, Senior Designer at Addison Group, said: "What a brilliant result! I'm really pleased ... I think it is testament to (CPI Colour's) care and attention that the job turned out so well."

The judges comments were: "Very different from the norm – it doesn't look like a report and accounts on first glance. Really well designed and the finished folders keep the two books separate for ease of use by the target audience."

The accolade was announced today at an awards event which attracted representatives from many of the UK's leading printing companies. CPI Colour's trophy was collected by Tim Royle, who managed the winning project.

The prize-giving took place on the river Thames, during a cruise through London on board the Silver Sturgeon.
